The hidden and metaphorical nature of alchemical terminology and operations is largely attributed to the persecution of scientific inquiry during Medieval times. Yet, the roots of alchemy span the ages. From these fundamental roots and their principles of dualism, the deeper reasons for modern confusion arise. From the very beginning alchemy has been a dual science embracing both material and transcendental aspects.
